Reaching beyond ourselves is a key part of church life here at New Hope. We believe that as we care about those in our community and our world who need God, that no matter where they attend church, God will bless us for caring. We have some major ways that we are effectively making a difference:
Domestic Abuse Shelter.......We care about those who are caught in this very damaging web. Lompoc has the highest rate of Domestic Abuse in Santa Barbara County. We support this vital organization in many ways.
Graffiti Eradication......... We partner with the City of Lompoc and other churches in our city to help beautify our community. New Hope coordinates for all of the other churches and we ourselves take 6 weeks out of the year to be on Graffiti Patrol. The City provides the Van and the supplies and we take care of the rest. Check the calendar for details.
Flower Festival.....Each June during the 3rd or 4th week we have the opportunity of operating a food booth at the Lompoc Valley Flower Festival. We serve French Bread Pizza....and lots of it! Each year we sell 7,000+ pieces which are made right on the park premises. This booth is a way for us to work hard together showing our community what a church family looks like when they put aside individual needs for the good of the whole. It is hard work for 5 days, but the rewards of great fun, letting people see what "New Hope" is all about and the financial benefits make this a must do in our community.
Food Pantry and Mobile Farmers Market........We provide food for those in need on an appointment basis. We distributed 232 boxes of food in 2009! On the fourth Tuesday of each month, the Santa Barbara County Foodbank brings a truck of produce that we distribute in our parking lot from 12-2 PM.
